Akanksha’s Journey

Here is how I get inspiration for creativity and artwork:

1. Visiting exhibitions and galleries of new and old artists give me ideas for some of my art works. Some of my favorite exhibitions are the Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Banksy and French Impressionism artworks from Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The Van Gogh exhibition was an interactive, Artworks were featured slowly moving around on the ceiling and walls. It was very calming and a unique way of viewing art. Frida Kahlo is one of my favourite artists and I loved viewing this exhibition dedicated to her life, struggles and art. My mom introduced me to Banksy’s works which I found very fun and unique. My mom tells me the artist is anonymous and usually his artworks hold a social message. Last but not the least was the Impressionist artworks exhibition of late 19th century French artists like Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Sisley, Signac and many more. Their flowing brushwork captured the life and scenery of those times so beautifully.

2. Visiting artwork installations such as the LEGO art, Inflatable art and the contemporary art pieces at SAM (Singapore Art Museum). The LEGO exhibition showed some famous artworks and sculptures made with Lego bricks these included the Kiss and Starry Night among others. Inflatable art was fun and quirky with interactive rooms that allowed my imagination to run free.

3. Through my travels with my family. A recent visit to Perth had me astounded by the beautiful artworks in the Fremantle prison by the inmates. I was glad to sneak in some time after at the WA Maritime Museum to quickly sketch local wildlife.
